2014 X3 M Sport with Nav Issues
So we took our New X3 back to the Dealer twice with Nav issues and each time the Dealer said they couldn't reproduce the issue. To their defense, when I dropped off the X3 it wasn't displaying a problem.
Recently happened again and I took a picture of the Nav Screen (said I was in Philadelphia 2 hours away) and then took a picture of a local landmark. All pics were time stamped. I then dropped the X3 off at the Dealer (as always the problem went away but this time I had proof) and respectfully requested they escalate the issue to BMW NA which they did. Apparently BMW NA was able to then check their computer records (considered private but I asked for their help) and learned my Nav system had 248 error messages. They authorized repairs (New Antenna and wiring). Repairs to be done next week. Impressive! I didn't know they had that capability. Just hope the problem goes away.

We've had to have the Antenna and wiring replaced twice on our 2012 (never had the slightest issue with our 2011), but our issue was inability to receive Satellite radio intermittently. As we don't use Nav around town, we didn't try that, so I don't know if it was ever non-functioning simultaneously. Is your issue focused solely on the Nav or is satellite radio also affected?

^ Excellent question. It's my Wife's vehicle and I just asked her. She said she has never had a problem with her satellite radio. With your input and her answer, it makes me believe replacing the antenna and cable may not fix he problem but we shall see. It goes in Wednesday.
Cheers, Chris

Not sure if this is related but my 2014 x-3 m sport had blue tooth connectivity issues, office would not import text messages and BMW online issues to. After the car was serviced, there was glitches found in the hardware which was resolved by resetting the computer that controls the computer. The other thing I noticed that the Nav was upgraded since the look and some of the features are different from the version I was used to.
I wonder if this upgrade/reset would help you? Will try to dig up the invoice and see exactly what was done. Could help! |

Thanks Guys for both of your thoughts and suggestions. I will follow up and post how it went after Wednesday's service.

So the Dealer installed a new antenna and wiring. No problem yet but frankly I won't know until I travel outside my local area, that seemed to always cause the problem.
Fingers crossed. Cheers, Chris

Did the Service Advisor discuss the schematic of how the antenna fin is organized, Chris (ie, do NAV and Sat Radio have their own circuitry or do they share the same antenna within the fin's housing)?

The fin antenna appears to support telephone, GPS, and Satellite Radio (SDARS). A parts depiction can be found on Realoem at http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...97&hg=65&fg=30
There are other antennas for other purposes, but not in the fin. |

There's a simple schematic in another post here that may be helpful. Take a look at pages 38 and 39 of the F25 Entertainment and Communication document.

Thanks for sharing 024. So it seems that there is only one main antenna which has multipurpose roles, I guess? May have different attachment points for the different circuits, which would explain why SAT may work when NAV doesn't, and vice-versa.
