Spotify+BMW=true

As you all probably know, Spotify and BMW officially launched the news that Spotify will be integrated as 3:rd party app to BMW Apps.

•BMW i NBT (from 09/13) - SA609
•BMW i NavBusiness/RadioProf (from 03/14*) - SA606 / SA663

Awesome news. Wonder if the Lightning connector is a must, or whether it's also possible via 6NS (Enhanced USB and Bluetooth plus Smartphone Integration).

Here's what you need:
•Option BMW Apps SA 6AK / SA 6NR.
•Spotify App iOS (new app release V.2!)
•iPhone 4S or later (iOS 7.x or later)

(you'll need a USB-cable or snap-in adapter - AFAIK BT is not supported)

Question

Hi

Not sure if this is a regional limitation, but unless the car is in P with the handbrake on, none of the apps (including Spotify) can be interacted with, and the screen just displays a warning (cover art etc not visible)
If it is regional, can it be coded off?

Thanks

Thumbs up Update!

The team at dvdinmotion.com responded to my request and provided an update file which enables apps while driving. Amazing team with quick response.

For the record, Updating facebook and twitter while driving.. no no no, but c'mon BMW, I want to see what song is playing?!

Thanks again to Lucie at dvdinmotion.com

Anybody know how well the regular spotify app on iPhone works when controlled via idrive? Does it at least display song title and artist and allow previous/next navigation?

For me, Spotify (Radio) via Bluetooth gets stuck on the album artwork and song title of the first track I play, although I'm able to skip previous/next using the controls on the steering wheel. Haven't tried the Spotify+BMW functionality.

If you haven't noticed yet; the BMW integration with Spotify 3.0.0 (iOS app) is broken!
However, Spotify are aware and they are working on a fix.
