X3 cigarette charger port always on...
Hi X3'ians,
Not sure if this is a duplicate thread, but I need an info. I use an after market GPS connected to cigarette charging port next to cup holder. GPS fits nice on the center console (conveniently next to iDrive), and I want to leave the power cable connected. But when I turn off the engine and power completely, GPS is still charging with car charger light on. It doesn't turn off even after locking the door. I don't want to drain the battery, is there any settings that will turn off the car charging ports when the ignition is off completely? Thanks |

I plugged in my dashcam, locked the car - 2009 X3, and went into a store for a good 45 mins. Came back out, didn't unlock the door, and saw the dashcam was still on and still drawing power.
Are there any models of X3 that leave the cigarette power on? |

The cigarette lighter in the front of the car powers down after a maximum of 15 minutes after you have locked the car. The same applies to the one in the rear passenger compartment. I think that is the same for all models. |
