My concern with XC60 is that it weighs about 200 kg more than my X4 - with an I4 - I have an I6- same power - I have about 320 bhp with M Performance exhaust.

I am still waiting for X2 and E Pace to be revealed.

Beware of the wolf!

Jaguar has just started to reveal pictures of E-Pace, which looks promising.

"Full" INFO on July 13.

Not a straightforward competitor to X3/X4, but people not needing X3/X4 interior space, might have a look.

Probably X1 will get hybrid - rear electric drive in 2019.

I would - probably - choose X1 hybrid.
Sorry missed this..... we did but love the size of the X3 its perfect for UK roads (X5 is way to big!)..

Now think we can hold on to the 2020 X3e is launched...

I bought my X4 because of:
-looks - not boxy as X3
-I6 petrol
-ZF gearbox
-BMW AWD

And - of course - general performance and quality.

New X3 looks - to me - as a slightly larger and improved X1.

I understand why X3 and an I6, but not nessesarily X3 and I4 - then X1 gives more bang for the buck.

Unless E Pace shows up as a very nice shooting brake, I will go for X2 M25i.

On the subject. Yesterday I saw the Velar at the local dealer. I was a sceptic but holy Batman is it a stunning car. It has the same height as the X3 but because of greater length, has a much sleeker and athletic profile.

Aesthetically it blows any other SUV out of the water. It's seriously that striking.

I was expecting it to be impractical but I had fit comfortably in the rear at my height of 180cm/5'11. The boot is practical too!

Pricewise It's between the X3 and X5 which I fair enough given the 630l boot and stunning shape. If you think the Evoque is too small and have decent money to put towards an SUV, give the Velar a poke.

Starting with Evoque, JLR like Volvo, has found a design theme with "flat" surfaces, which gives a very nice impression.

My concern would be reputation of crappy quality. See JD Power and others.

I optioned a Velar to look like the marketing material, it reached almost $90k for the R dynamic which starts at $60k In USA site. The first edition starts at an eye watering $90k, however The entry level Velar which starts at $50k does not look like the marketing material, from lights, bumpers, rims..actually is very plain, but those options are expensive!

Yupp. It's not cheap and out of reach for most entry level X3 customers. However, the 380hp Velar R-Dynamic is $69k which is just a touch more than the X4 M40i at $67k with no options.

IMO, he RR Velar (optioned RD of course) is absolutely gorgeous and probably the best looking SUV on the market today. I saw one at the NYIAS and it was stunning. It is in a category all on its own because it's size is almost exactly between an X3 and an X5...so you could argue it competes with both where the Discovery would be the direct competitor to the X3 and RR/RRS would be the direct competitor to an X5.

Even with that supercharged 380HP/332lbft (I think it weighs close to 5500lbs!!), the X3 M40i will be a better performance SAV and the Velar will be better at doing what RR does best and that is luxury. If RR can kick the reliability stigma it has...it will be one great selling SUV.

Sometimes I wonder why they can't work on this....if it were just as reliable as a Bimmer not Toyota, I would be in one in a heartbeat.

Oh boy, how did Jaguar get the Epace design so wrong? Suzuki swift meets Hyundai..hideous..

I got E PACE INFO today - design around rear quarter questionable - only "live" full size vehicle will tell.

I have read description at Jaguar.co.UK, and it is impressive - although not Al-body and - heavily upgraded - "old" architecture.

Full line-up mid 2018.

I will choose between X2 35iM and 300bhp E PACE.

Where are you getting your weight numbers from? Volvo lists the T6 AWD at 1868 KG and BMW lists the X4 35i at 1895 KG.

Weight was from initial pressmaterial - which, probably, was incorrect.

I have data from Teknikens Värld, which both have official weights and actual:
Audi Q5, 2.0 diesel Manuf. 2061 kg Real: 2050 kg
MB GLC 220, diesel Manuf. 1940 Real: 1990
XC60, 2.0 diesel Manuf: 1971 Real: 2014

They do not have figures for X3/X4. My X4 35i is officially at 1880kg.

Revised figures indicates that XC60 is at a competitive level - apart for new data from G01, which indicates weight reduction of about 60 kg.

"My" X2 will be much less and if X2 M35i, gets the 300+bhp, it will be a "pocket rocket"
