Tuning boxes are getting more and more difficult to install and remove, and you have to do it each time you visit the garage.

Actually the opposite, they're becoming much and much easier to install.
With so many people installing RaceChip, aFe Scorcher, Dinan, BMS etc.
More proper installation guides, best settings, tips etc by folks such as opasha paicapo pdawg 42pilot Trojanlaw Who are the ones responsible for the Racechip delivers proof!

You can only do so much by improving the guides. Accessing the rail is getting increasingly difficult in latest 5 series and X3 (haven't seen the others). You need to remove the air intake and also the sound proofing layer.

I didn't see any rails in my N20, maybe you guys have rails over in Europe?

the F15 community has installed RaceChip easily on 35i and 35d engines, also NEW 50i (N63TU).. I know of 2 other guys installed on N63 (550) as well with no issues. If anything I believe the N20 is probably the most difficult due to the position where 1 of the 3 sensors are located and I still managed to do it with a friend btw if I can install this it means anyone else can because seriously I' have only been driving for 4 1/2 yrs and never touched or fixed anything in my car except opening the hood to put windshield fluid haha..

I don't know what N20 is, but if it's a car from this century, it should have this afaik:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_rail

Racechip works much better when it's connected to it

I did not say it could not be done, but it takes too much time for my taste. If you end up in accident, you'd need something you can take out quickly and easily. This is not it any more, for me at least.

Sneaky trick.
A Swedish carmagazine has tested a BMW (loaner from BMW Sweden) using the launch control versus just pushing brake pedal and letting off when reaching maximum rev the converter will allow.
They were almost half a second quicker with "manual" start.

I would not do this with my car.

I wasn't sure if I noticed my stock X3 w/o RC and stock setting after 4 months. So what I did was plug in the dummy plug and drove it for 5 miles and pushed it. Then I put the unit back on on stock setting and the difference was definitely noticeable also using my Torque Pro app datalogging and dash command.

Glad you got it installed !

That was actually X3 28i (1st Gen, MWG) Dinan Stage1 yes it also did poorly against my X3 28i (2nd Gen, EWG) RaceChip Stock setting.

The 35i (Camera) is just a great driver who knows how to take his car to its maximum and helps us 28i test our tune if its any good haha (Match him).

When u coming to NY again?
We're planning to go to the drag-strip again for the next few weeks in a row since they're soon going to close for the season.
