Excellent photographs of the G01 M40i, Palbay - many thanks for sharing. As an aside, not sure how close you've been able to get the model when it is stopped, but do you have any idea if the Air Breather on the M40i is an open channel? Thanks again!

Thanks for the nice comments. Very appreciated. I have not yet gotten close enough to inspect the Air Breather. I saw a launch day vid...The designer of the G01 was interviewed next to the M Sport model in the Plant. He said the Air Breather Side Vent was not functional. Not sure if it would be different on the M40i. Eyes peeled.... :-)

What size wheels are those? 19? 20? 21?

I was hoping for more aggressive offset and wider rear tires than I'm seeing here.

I'm sure spacers might help too.

I assume our US Spec won't be blessed with orange rear indicators. Stupid.

According to this pic, they are supposed to be functional.. I really hope so. I've heard yes and no in a few different videos..

Nice that the exhaust isn't molded into the bumper, cant tell if it's just the shadow but looks like left exhaust is darkened?

M getting tired of big three Germans adding these badges to their everyday cars. Having to move into halo cars and Porsche now over paying premiums for not proper M cars is getting out of hand.

Agreed, IT kinda takes away from the real M owners.. But every other car manufacturer is doing it also.. Guess they gotta keep up.. but that's not a good reason to me.. Acura has the NXS are they gonna start making Toned down NSX version SUV's now?!?

Great scoop

In genera a really nice evolution, the rear lights shape looks a bit over styled but heck, doesn't matter.

Sort of, if you count the "gunmetal" finish as chrome. Same color used on the tips of the M140i and the M240i. I have seen in "black-chrome" and gunmetal-chrome", with the 2nd being the one I usually see.

Clearly a vent opening is present in the wheel well on all of the models shown online thus far, so at least one of this model's lineup is going to have an active breather - just which one(s)?

Agreed! I've already convinced my lady we (she) needs an X3 for the fam. Just waiting for the X3M to come out so we can test drive. I think she will be convinced then.

Looks great! More muscular and better proportioned than the outgoing model. Maybe a few M Performance parts will enhance it further!
