What do you use to clean chrome exhaust tips?
My inside chrome exhaust tip has soot buildup which seems to be getting harder and harder to clean with soap and water. What product do you use?
Thanks, |

I wonder if applying sealant, like Klasse High Gloss, would it make it easier to clean, or would the sealant be damaged/discolored by the high heat.

I've always used Mother's chrome polisher with success

Happich Semichrome every other month and a paper towel moistened with windshield washer fluid (anti-freeze) to wipe the black stuff off every couple of days. If you don't get if off quickly, it seems to "bake on" and is much harder to remove. Semichrome seems to be one of the few chrome polish/protective coatings that doesn't discolor at high temperatures.

The most important thing is to clean them with each washing (and let's just assume that is about weekly). Most chrome or metal polishes will remove some of the baked on residue - even Windex if it's not too bad.
Here's a little tip for your tips.... use Armor-All Wheel Protectant and lightly spray the inside lip of the exhaust tips once they are clean. This acts like teflon and will keep the soot from building up.
