Underhood (bonnet) lighting

The other evening I opened the hood to fill the windshield washer fluid and noticed there is no light.

hmm, that's weird??

Why wouldn't bmw include an under-hood light on a $65K car?

I guess to buy a 65k car they assume you have a house with a well lit garage

Or someone who can do all the fluid top offs, oil changes, etc for you.

From what I recall I don't think there are many manufacturers including lighting in the hood.

Hmm, this looks like a good DIY project.

All we need to find is a BMW product with lighting and do a retrofit.

How about fitting one of these in the engine bay, also has an umbrella so you wont get wet too!

My Dad's 1982 Cortina Ghia had an under bonnet light.

May be it was there to help you when it broker down on a cold winters evening (not that it ever did, but just in case.....)

If you have an iPhone (or similar) and a soft case, you can wedge it quite securely into a recess on the underside of the bonnet and use a torch app - nice free solution (and handy if you're out and about and don't have anything better)
