I drive menu changes on x3 2013, what else is changed ?

The new Idrive menu on the 2013 models have changed to include sport display, also the Dynamic drive switch has changed to go from normal-sport-sport+ to eco pro-comfort-sport-sport+

What else have changed that BMW have not gone official with on the new models?

Idrive display on a new 2013 x3 from another thread:

Ok here's the full 2013 changes...
The 2013 is in many way a better car... 2011-2012 model resale prices will plunge ...?

Additionally, every 2013 BMW X3 will be equipped with Driving Dynamics Control with ECO PRO to help further conserve fuel, as well as a power tailgate. The X3 xDrive28i models also receive standard 18-inch aluminum wheels and chrome-tipped exhaust outlets, and this model’s optional M Sport Package now includes 19-inch wheels. Both X3 models can be equipped with a new Driver Assistance Package with a lane departure warning system.

From Bimmerfile.com

After only a single model year it is amazing to see how BMW was able to update the vehicle with the latest technology. This may be a sign that the general platform it shares with the 3 Series is able to be changed and modified as technology moves on- something that in the past was difficult to do and held back certain models from getting the latest and greatest in gadgetry.

The X3 continues to evolve with new Technology.

Auto Start/Stop will now be standard on both the X3 xDrive28i and X3 xDrive35i. Under certain driving conditions, Auto Start/Stop turns off the engine when the vehicle comes to a stop, providing up to a 3% improvement in fuel economy. Once the driver’s foot is removed from the brake or the steering wheel is slightly turned, the engine will re-start automatically. This feature can be switched on/off via a button located next to the Start/Stop button.

Driving Dynamics Control with ECO PRO can be accessed by a button on the center console enabling the driver to select a new “ECO PRO” mode. ECO PRO enhances fuel efficiency by:

Optimizing drive train, heating, air conditioning and electrical functions by dialing those functions back.
Displaying driving tips on the iDrive screen to help conserve fuel.
Displaying fuel saved as “bonus” miles added to the vehicle’s normal driving range
New Driver Assistance Package includes Lane Departure Warning that warns the driver if unintentionally straying out of their lane.

All BMW X3s are produced in an expansion of BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Technical specifications and EPA mileage ratings for the 2013 BMW X3 Sport Activity Vehicles will be announced closer to the on-sale date.

I assume none of these new features will be made available via an idrive update for pre-2013 X3's? My 2012 is in for the software update for throttle lag and erratic idle issue. I also complained about idrive issues such as slow to boot up Nav and the inability to answer my phone via bluetooth via the steering wheel button. I doubt if the dealer updates the idrive software that I will get any of the new functions.

I would be surprized to see these in the Pre-13s but if it does update, please let us know!

Just spoke to my SA. Said when they update the engine management software they have to update all software. So if there's an idrive update it will be loaded as well. I'll let you know if there are any substantial changes.

Now all new x3 comes with power gate and DDC ... Earlier this was not standard.

And then there's the physical change with the ECO PRO button in the mid console ..

I believe std power tailgate is US and/or Canada market only, but you will get the eco-pro mode. I dont think a minimum of 18" wheels are std in UK either.

These are all built in the US though and in the same factory, so any reason why we miss out on these benefits? As we pay in pounds, with the conversion, don't they get more for their money by selling the same car in the Uk for example than the US?

Surely if they are all coming off the same production line, they are not going to distinguish the US X3s from the UK ones and apply the power tailgate to the US ones only, are they?

The power tailgate is a $4000 option on the 35i in Canada. (since it's only available as part of a 'package')

How do you like JB stage 1? I've been waiting for Dinan to put out a package for the X3 xDrive35i N55 Engine. They have one for the X6 and X5. I'm starting to think that they're going to neglect us X3 owners.

I'm not sure anything in that list will make the MY 11 or 12, "plunge" in value.

Garage List
Looking at the UK price list the only change is eco-pro mode and it doesn't make much difference, the fuel consumption is the same

Oh I wish that was the case but sadly not manutd123. There are a few differences in the equipment lists between the US and UK / EU models. All of us in the UK do not get the new 18inch wheels which are standard on the new MY13 US models

Indeed, laughable comment. 90% of drivers will never use these functions.

I'd like to have them but they are very incremental. The button label has changed and the software has been enhanced a little, that's it.

Who would use Eco-Pro mode anyway- like Stop/Start it's just designed to optimise the regulatory fuel and CO2 tests, not for the real world.

I would really like the torque and hp displays though. I'd have a lot of fun with that

This is a US press release related to the US market model only.

Many market models have had DDC and Start/Stop since launch. Only the label on the button has changed and software enhanced to go with it.

Take it from a 2013 model owner, you really are not missing anything with regards to ECO PRO.

Love it! worth the $$$ spent.

I believe Dinan has something for the n55 equiped F25's. Nothing on their website but call your local Dinan Dealer and see if they do. The DME and engine set up is very similar to the F10's.

I can confirm that updating the iDrive software in pre 2013 models does not add the new meters/gauges/options.

What did change were the Nav map views. All roads are now grey and building and landmarks are no longer shown. I’ve changed the views, turned on POI’s and still buildings and landmarks are longer shown.

FYI - The dealer didn’t update the Nav map because they said the 2012 didn’t offer any major updates over 2011. However supposedly the 2013 update due in December 2013 will offer a major update.
