The video seems to show a run of 0 to 120 kph in about 11.3 sec. With the parallax caused by the camera angle, it's hard to judge the 100 kph point, but it appears to be around 8.93 secs. Considering the driver did not use any "brake torquing" to load the torque converter, and the apparently "automatic" shift points used (well below the redline) may not be optimal, the 8.5 sec rating seems very possible.

Interesting but it's a bit of a lame effort IMO. If you're going to put something like this on youtube then you should film the speedometer straight and include a stopwatch in the video. I'll do one properly when I finally get mine (and in MPH too)

Yep. It's "You Tube". Anything goes and you get what you pay for.

Note: The gas tank has a full load and who knows - there's probably three people in the car, and a couple of full suitcases in the boot. The shifts are all at about 4250 which certainly is not wringing all the possible acceleration out of the lower gears. All in all, it actually speaks well for the little 20d oil burner.

haha - yeah, good point and I enjoyed reading your prediction of passengers and luggage - who knows!

I agree though, any other external factors would degrade performance and if it's actually a bit better than in this video clip, that can only be a good thing.
