no, it's independent of 6NR (I don't have 6NR and have all of the remote app functions)

BMW seems to have tried hard to keep the app limited to the UK, but the app does partially work in the US and Canada. North American users do not have access to the Climate function. That suggests that there are either differences between the NA and UK X3s climate software and/or hardware, or in the NA implementation of BMW Assist.
Some or all of the functions should work in Oz, but that may depend on how Oz implemented BMW Assist. For all that I know, it may work better in Oz than in the US. If you need them, I can point you to a couple of links that talk about the app and how to download it from the UK app store. Google can also provide you with good links. It will cost you nothing but time to try the app and see how well it works for you. |

Thanks! I've got the app but have no idea what my username and password are. Was not provided anything when I picked up the car. Will contact my dealer and see if there is more info he can provide.

The key question is Did you subscribe to BMW Assist? If so, check the packet of papers that you received at delivery. The e-mail address (BMW Assist ID) and the initial password should be listed there. In the US it is an automatic subscription. I don't know if it is automatic in Oz.

Not sure about Oz but you can setup your BMW assist in the UK by applying online through the connecteddrive website (http://www.bmw.co.uk/bmwuk/connected...ml?siteID=1312). Mine took a couple of days to become active and then you have a username and password that works with the BMW remote app. you also need this setup for Google Send To Car

i called bmw and ask them if they have my correct vehicle vin number listed correctly and they do. but im still getting the same message that no vehicle is saved. ugghh

New version of the app available since 1 Sept
It's, er, pretty much exactly the same as the last version so those optimizations really are very minor . In fact they didn't even update the version number on the settings page but I can see in iTunes it is now 1.0.4 not 1.0.3. Doesn't fill you with confidence when they do things like this iTunes info
