Just called my dealership today. I have an ETA of February 25th. They said that it's on a train right now making its (slow) way to California.

ETA to your dealer or Oxnard prep center? my CA told me, our X3 ETA to Oxnard will be 2/16. It should be less than 2 days before it arrives at dealer. Your X3 was ready 3 weeks ahead of ours though. We ordered on Jan 9.

Curiously, while my dealer did give me an ETA of February 25th, I still get the "Your vehicle is at the port awaiting a shipping vessel. There is not shipping information available at this time" when I call the 1-800 number.

Anyone else experience this? Wonder if it's because of the mode of transportation to the West coast (train vs truck).

Has anyone received their X3 yet? If so, do you know how long it was in the california vehicle prep center? My car arrived there 2 days ago and now they say it will take 3 weeks before it is at my dealer in northern california.

3 weeks, seems absurd, when they estimated 2 days.

Sounds about right. Mine took about three weeks to get to me in Portland after it was finished.

Is that 3 weeks from completion of production or 3 weeks from arriving in California?

My X3 was done being made on 2/22 and then took about 2 weeks to get here to California. Now they are saying another 3 weeks to get from the final prep center to the dealer, which they initially estimated at 2 days.

I'm assuming something must have happened to the car during transit, so they have to fix it up now, which is causing the delay.

I'm not convinced that the car even goes to Port Hueneme.

My was completed on Feb 6th and left Sc on the 9th. My SA told me that, according to their system, the car would reach the port on the 23rd. Well, it ended up reaching the dealership on the 23rd instead.
Since the car goes through all the VDC prep in SC, I don't see why it would go through it all again in CA. I think that the cars go directly from SC to a distribution center and then to the dealership with no stops at the VDC in Port Hueneme.

Yeah, it seems unclear. Just talked to the dealer again and she clearly said the car is in Oxnard, but for some reason isn't going to be released to them until 3/23. They say that's all they can say, as they don't get any additional detail from the VDC.

WIERD & frustrating!

And probably inaccurate. I was told pretty much the same thing and then BANG! my car was here.

According to the web page, my production was on the 18th of February. Then it seemed to be sitting there waiting to be shipped to the west coast. VPC arrival scheduled for March 10th. That Thursday, the CA called to say come-n-git-it. Picked it up Friday, the 11th.
Hate to say it, but when does it arrive? The answer is, nobody knows ... but I ain't complaining.

lucky lucky! My production was also around the 18th of February and arrived at the VPC on March 8th. Dealer initially said the car would be in Monterey by March 12th, but now they are saying week of March 28th. 20 days from VPC to Monterey! There must have been some serious damage during shipping, which is probably why it is delayed at the VPC.

Yikes, guess it is worth it to do PCD pickup! Mine is being built in April and I am picking it up in April - if it gets damaged in shipment, so do I

I kind of wonder if the dealer really knows. Their information is most likely an online query to their secret database. With the sporadic updates on the web page and the phone system, they may be subjected to the same "errors" the rest of us are. Most likely, the dealer will know when yours is in by the paperwork when the X3 is off-loaded from the transport.

Angry damaged during shipping

I just got confirmation from my dealer (after it sat at the VPC for 2 weeks) that the car was indeed damaged while being shipped from SC to CA. They said the wheel got damaged and they had to order a new wheel from Germany. That said, nearly 4 weeks after the vehicle was done being built, I'm still waiting. Per my CA sounds like it may be ready in the next week + 2 days to them.

Frustrating and a horrible process. It took 2 weeks of sitting there before a wheel could be shipped out all the way from Germany, when the car is made in SC.
