M Sport Package on 28i in Canada?

Hi all,

Does anyone know if the M Sport Package can be special ordered on the 28i in Canada? It is offered on the 28i in the US - and I know with the new F30 you can order it on the 328i, subject to the $400 special order charge.

I've asked at a local dealership but they're fairly clueless.

Many thanks!

Can't be done. This is weird because BMW Canada doesn't usually restrict special orders like that but they are in this case. My local dealership checked it out as not having M-Sport was a deal breaker for me. Since they couldn't do the M-Sport on the 28i, I didn't bother test driving it and ended up order a 35i. Likely would have got the 35i anyway to have the inline 6 engine though.

Wow, that's surprising - and disappointing. I've priced out the 35i with the similar options but it gets way too expensive for me.

You could always buy a used 28i m-sport in the states and import it here.

You can check out this CPO (35i with M-Sport) on BMW.ca - seems like a pretty decent deal and low mileage, probably a demo.

The stock# is PW2241 (its in Kitchener).

Maybe you can talk them to lower the price to low to mid 50's. I considered this before just pulling the trigger on a 28i with the packages that I wanted. But M-Sport would have been really nice. No Nav though.

Or a new one in the states and import it there. Doesn't it cost less to buy it here??

Yep the US prices are better than up here but the Canadian government only permits the importation of used cars.

I assume the automotive lobbyists 'convinced' the politicians somehow.

Its such a joke what goverments get away with these days... just outright interference in the markets (amoung other things).
