What is BMW NIE PROX and what does it mean if it shows this for the BMW model?

When I check my vehicle for software updates on www.bmw.com, I get this "nie prox" in the model field. I also saw it somewhere else, like where you could see all options of your vehicle, I forgot where it was, probably on bmw website as well.

Looks like a bug. When was the last time your car was programmed at the dealership.

I've always wondered about this too. I also have the 2018 model with same thing showing whenever I checked for update. I recently updated my idrive through dealer and it's still there now so don't know what it is, doesn't seem software related.

It was like that from day 1, before and after the update.

I just saw the same thing while doing a VIN search on my 2013 Alpina B7 (f02)
It said 2013 BMW NiE Prox (f02)???

Seem to be Code Name for Alpina. My Alpina B6 Also shows as:

Vehicle
BMW NIE PROX, 330KW
