Radio Question

Question about radio presets. I go into the manual FM tuner, select a station and set it as a favorite.

When I go into presets or scroll through it with the selector on the steering wheel, some stations appear as #'s (i.e. 103.5) and some appear as names (i.e. WPLJ)

Is there a way to have them always appear as #'s?

Yes. Right-click the iDrive controller when you're on that FM screen with all of the stations listed. There are two selectable options at the bottom of the screen. The bottom one is a 3-letter acronym that I can't remember at the moment. Turn it off.

Unless you order Priority 1, paying for the 309s and then paying the dealer to order the 308s and have them fitted before taking delivery.

I think, though, because the X3 is in such high demand and Spartanburg lacks the hand-crafted variables of the German factories, Priority 1 ordering (for custom color orders, custom upholsteries, Euro-spec retrofits, etc.) is incredibly difficult and so expensive you may as well get an Individual Composition X5.

I ran a test today close to 90. There was a little bit of wind noise that sounded like it was coming from the roof rails, but nothing out of the ordinary from the mirrors or doors. No complaints so far!

I tried what you said. The option is called, "RDS". Turning it off didn't remove the channel label until I deleted the channel and re-added it. Seems to be working on new entries.

Thanks!

Maybe in the US, in Canada 309s were part of the (then) Sport Pkg (deleted at Mar 31/11, and replaced with MSport as of Apr 1/11).

That could explain why when I ordered my car in May, my CA told me that the 309 wheels came with the SAP.

308's were supposed to come with the SAP in the U.S and the 309's should have been a $600 upgrade on top of the SAP package. They didn't change it for the U.S until the 2012's came out. Sounds like Canada was different.

Looks great, i love the headliner

Looking at the pictures, I wonder if the headliner and the A-pillar is using the same material? It looks as if they are 2 different materials, but could be just reflection from the sun.

The material appears to be the same. The diamond like shapes in the A-pillar is aligned vertically while the headliner is horizontal which makes light reflect differently.

Some rattles appeared today. The most annoying one is a tinny noise that appears to be coming from the cluster above the dash that has all the lights/sunroof controls.

I tried applying pressure to various sections while driving with no success.

So far 70% low traffic city driving and a decent amount of idling in the driveway while I mess with the computer.

I'll be doing a 72 mile round trip highway commute tomorrow. I'll reset the counter and report back what I get.

After several days of playing with the dynamic suspension my conclusion is it's totally worth it. In normal mode the suspension is far too bouncy (Perhaps the non-DHP suspension is better?) . Sports mode with 'chassis only' is perfect. It's firm, but in a good way. Bumps are still dampened nicely. I wish it didn't have to be set every time you start the car.

13.5 MPG Not good hope it improves some.
I have the "Sport Suspension" on the 550i and it's great, I have added it to my X3 order.

I never trust trip computers to tell me mileage - i always figure it the old fashioned way - reset the trip odometer with ever tank and really figure miles driven per gallon pumped.

I haven't really done it yet with my X3 - have had it a month tomorrow and other than 1 road trip the first week its been almost all city driving - and as Dukat said the first 2 weeks alot of time in the car idling while i learned the features, particular idrive and nav.

Congrats Dukat!! Nice car!
Question - how long did it take from when you placed the order to your delivery? I'm trying to gauge how long I have to wait.

Thanks Stski.

I ordered in August before 2012's were available so I waited 2 months.

From the time the tracking page said, "In Production" to the time the dealer had it delivered was approx 8 days. The tracking updates were delayed as it said, "In Production" the day it was delivered to the dealer.

It takes 40 hours to build the car. I think mine was loaded on a truck within a day or 2 of completion and delivered within a day due to my proximity to South Carolina. The dealer required 1 day to prep the car.

Your biggest wait will be for a build slot that's allocated to your dealer. Mine was built 2 weeks ahead of schedule so I don't think all the build slots were used up allowing me to move ahead.

Your dealer should be able to tell you what week build slot they assigned you to. If they start the build on the assigned week I would expect it within 8 days or so.
