If it makes you feel better....I found with my 30D whilst it was really good I wouldn't say power delivery was seemless or totally predictable. The 35D fixes all of my slight gripes with the 30D.

At present, the 20D suits my mostly short commutes, but having driven the 35D, I couldn't fault it. I'm just slightly envious!

It's an indulgence for sure though the way my lease worked out it is actually a very good deal. The 20D is more than most people need and is fun to drive. I know what you mean about its performance as I found when I drove a 20D I was driving faster than most people around me due to its torque characteristics.

I have to say that the 6 cylinder diesels are far more refined than the 4 cylinder versions and this is especially noticeable coming from straight 6 petrol engines. Last edited by ianfp; 07-12-2015 at 01:53 PM.. Reason: Typo |

The 184hp twin scroll 2.0d is something of a masterpiece to be fair, BMW is simply the best Diesel engine manufacturer for road going vehicles in my opinion. Plus, the 2.0d is now easily mapable through OBD to release more power and reduce the low down lag...
Or alternatively use one of the multi channel programmers (plug in modules) they go real well after the increase! |

The 2 litre diesel can really benefit from a good map or a decent tuning box, one that controls boost too. The loss of 50 kilos over the front also makes a big difference to how they feel. Once mapped the 20d is a completely different car. The 6cyl is much sweeter, but there becomes much less of a gap speed wise, but the 20d sounds gruff, no getting away from that. Really surprised they never released the 25d. For me the X3 is a car to do 30k boring miles a year in, and the 20d does that very well, sometimes 700 miles from a tank. |

Here are typical figures for yours: Fuel : DIESEL Original BHP : 310 Power increase - Performance remap : 49 BHP Torque Increase- Performance remap : 60 Nm I had a 2007 pre lci e91 325d (6 cyl) from new for 5 1/2 years that was remapped by 20%. I will not post the name on the forum as it can be construed as advertising. Same information available to anyone vaguely interested including Anygreg. Just PM me.

Thanks, it's a pipe dream at the moment as the car's still under warranty.
I have used a very good tuner in the past. I believe gizzie has experience of the same chap. I was just enquiring to broaden my knowledge of who can do these through the obd port. |

If it is in the Birmingham area, perhaps so.

Simon is good but the other one I have had recent direct dealings with is worldwide including USA and trains people. The last time I was there, I used to drive up because it is only an hour away he had 2 Porsches and a Jaguar waiting.
Please do not assume we are talking about the same people. It was one of my specialities some time ago and I flitted between 2 companies, one is just down the road from me. If you look carefully, I am in F1 territory where the real specialists are.

Interesting..... PM the other would you please?
I have a contact local to me who has a rolling road and he's had examples from most tuners through his doors. Some of the more well known ones really don't deliver. As mentioned I'm always on the look out |
