Rear Facing Infant Seat Recommendations

Having a tough time researching online as to which rear facing seats will fit easily in a F25 X3? This is my first time purchasing a baby seat so I'm totally clueless. After reading for hours (car seat forums, baby forums, bmw forums lol) I've narrowed it down to the Chicco Keyfit 30. Anyone have other recommendations or reasons against the Chicco Keyfit 30?

We purchased GRACO seats for the grand-kids. Very well made and mail order thru Amazon.

I use maxi cosi child seats (front and rear facing available) with isofix.

I also bought a seat cover (no brand name) to protect the leather seats from being marked for about £10 from Amazon and they work well.

Check this test from Finnish automotive club:

http://www.autoliitto.fi/tietopankki...aistuintestit/

You would like to have the last column to be "Hyvä".

Or just run that through Google translated

We have this and it is very good with the Isofix base:

http://www.autoliitto.fi/tietopankki...s_isofix_2005/

In that test Chicco keyfit was only "mediocre".

And yes, we also have protected the leather with tailored protection canvas (with cardboard inside).

Thanks, for some reason I don't think isofix is offered in U.S.

I've got two kids now and we've gone through a couple of brands over the years. We had an Evenflo infant seat and a couple Gracos, but now we use Britax. The quality is top notch. I've never seen any other brand that is anywhere close.

For example, the LATCH system on most car seats is good to OK, but it can be a pain to get the seat tight. Not with Britax. They have a much better design and it's dead simple to get the seat tight. It's also much easy to remove the seats when needed.

I never got to try one of their infant seats but they have a couple of models here:
https://us.britax.com/car-seats/infant-car-seats/

We used the Marathan convertible model and it was fantastic. When it was time for booster seats we chose the Parkway SGL (L for LATCH which isn't necessary on a booster but keeps the seat from flying around when no one is in it)

You should be able to find them at Toys-r-us that's where I got a couple. I would definitely recommend checking them out.

Also you should be able to test fit them in the car and return if they don't work.

Loved the Key Fit 30. Highly recommended. They are reviewed really well.

Now we have the Britax Marathon Convertible seats (in both cars) and those are great! It's about time we start looking at the next step... boosters.

Anything will fit...

The biggest consideration (as I learned the hard way) is whether you'll want two or three seats in the future.

If you want to put a convertible seat (for a 8 month to 6 year old) in the side and use the infant carrier in the middle, you'll need to make sure both are narrow or they won't fit. I have a rather wide convertible seat, and I couldn't put an infant seat beside it in the middle. They both fit fine in the two outer seats, but there is no room for an adult in the middle.

In short - if you plan on having 1 or 2 and don't mind using both outboard seats, anything will fit (the X3 is not a small vehicle, after all). If you want a more difficult configuration, like 3-across or one outboard and one middle, consider width as a major decision making factor.

We have a 1.5 week infant and the Chicco Key Fit 30 fits perfectly. Havent tried any other ones, as this is our first child, but it works great so far.

I use a convertible from Diono - pretty much one of the toughest seats out there with a full steel frame. Diono also has mats you can get to protect your seats.
Always take the seat to a local PD/FD to double check your installation.

We bought a Clek fllo http://clekinc.com/fllo/ and it fits the X3 really well and can be used as a rear-facing seat for longer than most other convertible car seats.
