One more time for me; How to reset after oil change

Had first service at 14K instead of 15K, the start up display is now counting miles over service and in the idrive vehicle status says oil change overdue.
Apparently BMW service did not reset, so how is it done?

False

1. Turn on ignition but not engine (press start engine/ignition button without depressing brake)
2. Press and hold only button on bottom left of tacho /instrument display
3. Display will change and show brake pad wear indicator picture
4. Press (and release) same button again to scroll through menu
5. When you reach the engine oil option (pic) press and hold until option appears to reset interval
6. Press and hold, interval will reset
7. New date and mileage will display, with 'reset not possible' (until you have driven another X number of miles)

Done!

What am I doing wrong here:
I follow those exact steps, there is also a youtube vid with those exact steps, but here is what happens to me:
Once I get to step #3, instead of the brake pad wear pic, or oil interval pic, etc, the OBC menu pops up (where you unlock it and see other stuff).
Mine is a 2011 so I'm not sure if it's any different?
Maybe I should wait longer to start step#2? (I press the ODO button as soon as the dash lights up)

Thanks

Exact same procedure. Mine is a 2011 and I went into it on Sunday when I did my oil change. Make sure when your doing step 1 that you are not starting the vehicle. Just get in, dont touch the brake, and press the start button so the guages and stuff are on but the vehicle isnt running. If its running i think it brings you to the menu you mentioned.

Never started the engine. It just jumps to the menu to unlock etc, but not the service things

Works on my 2016. Something I have always done, and I am a little superstitious about, when resting the service timer make sure all of the doors are shut and unlocked. I am not sure if it will do anything to help but its worth a try!

Good Luck!

OK, I am not new to BMW's .I owned a bunch of them over the years, and I still have 4 different models in my stable. I followed the instructions posted, which are very similar to other BMW platforms, I watched that youtube vid posted above and some other ones, yes I have doors closed, seatbelt on etc.
Just to be clear.

But for a strange reason, following whatever is posted, or what I do for my other BMW's, does not apply to the f25. I get straight into that OBC unlocking or other menus.

I can undo or reset oil change intervals etc via the laptop, but it's inconvenient. I use the laptop for other stuff. I did quite a few things to my cars thanks to these great forums and great members. Thank you all.

The problem I'm facing is explained above, and I am not sure why this happens? Oddly enough there is another poster (nyalpine90) who encounters the same thing. Sure there must be other people, who either didn't bother anymore to use the above described method, or who figured out what was done wrong. There must be a small detail evading me...

The KEY to this working, make sure you beginning this with an OFF engine. Then press the ignition button (without the pressing the brake), wait a second or two... not press the reset trip button on the left, WHALA. If you get the menu sequence, you probably didn’t begin the process from OFF. I was also initially baffled, I always got to the menu. Then I tried first thing next morning and WHALA worked first try.

Ok. This is what you need to do.

Follow the instructions above HOWEVER...

For Step two, DO NOT press and hold. You need to press once and THEN press and hold for the maintenance list to pop-up. Press > press & hold.

Press and hold (one press) will bring up the OBC list. Press then press again and hold (two press) will bring up the correct list.

Hope this helps.

Edit: OMG I just realized I commented on a thread from two years ago! LOL!!!

Hey, you're currently on the F25 generation X3 forums. The one you're looking for is the G01 generation which can be found through this link.
