Back doors staying locked

We can't get the back doors to unlock when we get out of the car after shutting off the engine without pressing the center unlock button. This can't be right. We pull the inside front door handles twice to unlock the doors and get out. The back doors stay locked. We then have to open one of the front doors, lean across the seat, and press the center unlock button. This is awful. Is there any way to have the all the doors unlock when you want to get out of the car? I figured it would be easier to ask rather spending an hour playing with the lock options.

Are the child locks an issue? Seems weird they are not opening from the outside though.

Also when I have the key with me and I am stay in the driver side, I can open the door by the door handle, I don't need take my key out from my pocket, but if some one in the other side, they can not open the door by the handle. I have to go inside and press the center unlock button. Is it a problem with the key entry?

I think that stinks! What if you are in an accident and the kids in the back need to get out quickly?? Isn't there any way to change it???

Don't know if it different on the BMW, but on my keyless entry Murano, if you push the button on the outside door handle once it unlocks the drivers side door, if you push it a second time, it unlocks all the other doors. Is this possible with the X3? (These are all things I need to know since I just sold the Murano!)

Did you get the ZKP option? (Kidnapper package). Keeps the rear doors locked, provides darker privacy glass, and more sound insulation.

I got that with the CSS (Child Suppression System) It seals the rear and releases a sleeping agent.
A must have for those long trips with the family.

Go on iDrive to Settings, then Door Locks and then choose "unlock all doors" option. Also check that the child lock switch is in the off position (side of back doors). If you have Comfort Access, this change will also allow you to open all doors from either side.

Hopefully this should do it.
