Hi guys, this is actually my first post. Just got my car one month ago(17 X3 x28i). It got rear ended last weekend.

I'm definitely going to file a diminished value claim. I had to go through my policy because the other party has a coverage issue. With that said, I'm worried that the other policy won't have enough money to offer for dv. Anyone else had this issue before? Thanks!! Both policy use same company and I live in California.

If you have UM (uninsured/under-insured motorist) coverage in your policy it should pay for your car's diminished value if the policy limits of the person who hit you aren't sufficient. Good luck. I was lucky to have hired an appraiser who walked me through the maze that the insurance company was putting me through. You will probably find that your own company is just as resistant to paying for diminished value as the other insurance company would have been.

Ohh thanks! I didn't know that can cover dv. I thought it can only cover personal injury.
