Did you consider something like this as far as sub placement? -->>> http://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1146422

Hi Rubix Cuber , I did a sub install in my 2016 X3 F25 back in January. Here's a few things I did and what I learned/would recommend to others. I used a Kicker LOC which provided a 12v remote. That was great because I did not have to tap a switched power source.

If you want to take it a set further, I'd recommend checking out this add-a-sub harness+LOC combo from Technicpnp. It also provides a 12v remote.

https://technicpnp.com/product/hifi-...ub-harnessloc/

I did not use this product because I didn't know about it at the time but if I were to do my sub install again, I would purchase it. I learned about it from others on the forum. Looks like a pretty cool product because it would prevent you from tapping the factory wiring harness. Just make sure you have option 676/674 on your vehicle. You can find this out through a BMW vin decoder. Hope this helps!

I just looked up the one for my 688 sound system and saved it for future use. Thanks!

Here's my sub 12" JL sub. Fits perfectly under the cargo cover and I'm using velcro tape on top and bottom to attach to floor and cargo cover to keep it rock solid.

No, there is a different harness for the 688 system. Make sure you look at that one.
