Carplay Connected store

Has anyone downloaded apple carplay for their x4 from the connected drive store? Did it work? Any issues? I have a 2017 x4 m40 that was ordered prior to apple carplay being available when the car was built. Looking to add it now.

Please let me know your thoughts/ if you did and how it is.

I've made several calls to my dealer and the reoccurring message is your car needs to have been ordered with car play. There is no retro fit available because it's not a "reprogrammable" option with iDrive. At least what I've been told...Anyone else know differently??

I have not, but I know others that have successfully ordered through ConnectedDrive.

It does require November '16 software or later, with February, April, & May firmware releases adding improvements. Remember there are no OTA updates.

One thing to keep in mind is that it is a poorly integrated, separate system. You would not want to Order, just to find yourself later disabling.

Make sure to check out in person first to see if you would actually use.

Lastly, there are also third party options for less money.
