Got the production number but wrong color car?
Greetings everyone! Just wondering if this has ever happen to anyone here? I got my production number from my salesperson and went on BMWUSA online to check the status and notice that it wasn't the exterior color that I originally ordered, call my salesperson and she told me that they (BMW online) haven't update the status of my order yet and it usually takes about 1 to 2 weeks for them to update it.
Has anyone here experience the same thing? Thanks in advance! |

The tracking system on BMWUSA is notoriously inaccurate, especially right after an order is placed. Like 509 said...give it some time.

Same thing happened to me. Took the website about two weeks after I ordered or about a week before it went into production to show the correct vehicle. Most important thing to do is review the order sheet your CA gives you. That's what will be built.

This one needs to go under the FAQ's. Must be a dozen similar threads. I also freaked out when my January-built car was showing up as Alpine White instead of Dark Blue. The web site lags behind BMW's ERP system, especially when it comes to new options.

Here's why: when an order is placed, and a production number is assigned, it typically goes to a slot that was previously occupied by another order. BMW builds only to order, but orders frequently get canceled, leaving a slot in the production schedule to be filled. First they fill it with your order, then they change the schedule to reflect the particular details of your order. If they didn't do it this way, there would be empty slots on the production line and you'd be waiting longer for your car.

Hello, same thing happened to me and I freaked out as well. I ordered Space Gray, but the first time I logged in, the BMW site showed Black Sapphire which was my second choice but not what I ordered. Like you I called my sales person who assured me it would be OK. In a couple weeks sure enough it was and still is showing Space Gray. So, hang in there and congratulations on you new X3!

Thank you all for the great responses!!! Really appreciated. Will check back with BMWUSA at later time to see if they've update the status.
