right two-stage brake lamp malf

I've been getting intermittent check control warnings about the right two-stage brake lamp malfunctioning. The warning triangle comes on at random, goes away at random.

Shows up on my dash as "Right two-stage brake lamp malf."

I had the dealer look at it when I took it in for another job. They are ordering a new brake lamp housing and intend to replace it; and if that doesn't resolve it, they are going to replace the ECU. Seemed pretty drastic to me, but the service agent said usually when he sees this type of work plan, the manufacturer has seen the issue before.

I had the same error message. Came on and off repeatedly. Dealer fix was replacing bulb. Error message has not returned

I just had the same happen last Friday. I went to the dealer and all it was was a burnt bulb. it is the bulb in the tailgate, the bigger one.
