HUD display are not visible with polarized Sunglasses

For people that are interested in the Heads up display it is a neat feature, but if you are wearing polarized sunglasses the display is hardly visible even with the brightness turned all the way up.

For my x5, yes with p/sunglasses HUD is not crystal clear, but faded yet visible. I like it. Works perfect at night!

That's what you get for getting a quality polarized sunglass. Most will leak some reflected light, making the HUD visible even at the lower settings. If yours really does filter it out completely, a quick right tilt of the head will shift the plane of polarization to make the display more visible (which I'm sure you've figured out by now).

HUD or not, polarized lenses are a must!

I was told by my salesman that is why you can rotate the HUD display. I saw the option, but haven't tried it, since I don't have these glasses.

Correct, a quick tilt of the head works. I have tried to rotate the HUD, but it made no difference.

I have prescription polarized RayBan aviators and I can see the HUD display just fine.

Have folks tried adjusting the height of the display as well, perhaps that would help?

Oddly enough (and frankly, not a huge deal) but I can't see some of the climate control displays from the passenger seat with my sunglasses on

This is the nature of LCD: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liquid-crystal_display

Nearly all of the displays in BMW's are LCD right now. Polarized sunglasses simply cancel out the light at a certain angle. I believe most manufacturers of sunglasses filter diagonally so that regular displays are still mostly visible.

Until we start to see LED and OLED displays, this is what we're stuck with. Definitely not just a BMW thing.
