Tensioner Pulley moving

Hey guys

So I started my X3 N55 the other day and popped the hood and noticed the accessory belt tensioner is like moving side to side on idle. Is that normal with these vehicles? Did not really make noise or anything.

Thanks

here is the part I'm looking to order to replace

Thanks

I thought the same when I first picked mine up. When the engine is warm, I noticed it doesn't move at all.

I would expect it to move some, especially when cold. The belt itself will have a bit of variation and stiffness, and the pulley spring is the only place that can move to account for that. If you are worried, release the tension on it and pull the belt off and see of there is play or roughness. But my bet is that it's fine.

Got it, thank you sir. It was a cold start after a few weeks of sitting.
