Currently, have a 2012 x3 xDrive28i and I have an interesting noise that comes from the engine. It starts with the engine noise and the car would physically start to shake when stopped at a light while the tachometer shows slight changes. The only fix for this is when I turn the car off and start it up and it seems to go away for that trip. This isn't always after a cold start, it could happen after driving it for a while too.

This started in winter but didn't happen until this week. I'm from Chicago and the weather definitely changes a lot here so I assumed it was due to the cold temperatures until it started up again.
