Rattle noise near torque converter
This noise sounds like a bad serpentine belt idler pulley bearing. I was under the car while it was ideling and it is coming from in between the engine and transmission. Car runs/shifts perfect. Any ideas ?

You may be missing these sound insulation caps, P/N 24 14 7 603 258 and P/N 24 14 7 567 139. They plug holes in the bell housing between the engine and the transmission. This is the TSB pertaining to it. Unfortunately I cannot find the full version. http://www.tsbsearch.com/BMW/SI+B24+03+11

Bringing up an old thread....I have the same noise. Went under my car and it's definitely coming from the front of the transmission where the torque converter is. My caps were missing so I put my hand up to cover the hole and it seemed to quiet the noise. Did you ever install the caps you ordered? And did it help?

Hopefully this info helps I had a sound that seems to be similar, a sound almost like a failing power steering pump. I put some info on page 2
