F25 Pre LCI 30d Oil dipstick location

I was just randomly looking through the Vehicle Info menu last night and noticed that Oil Level is showing as too high. There is no warning / check control message (that shows no faults) but I am pretty sure it wasn’t there before and oil was changed a year ago and not touched since. However the message hardly stands out so could be easily missed. So I thought let me check manually but I can’t see a dipstick anywhere so is the UK 30d (I believe that is the N57 engine) one of the engines that does not have one or is it just well hidden?

I have a 2016 28d and it has no dipstick to manually check the oil. I wish it did, but .....

I never found one on mine, so I believe the answer may be no.

Popped into a local bmw specialist and they showed me where it is. Right at the back of the engine as you look at it on the right hand side. Hard to get to as its in a small gap between the plastic engine cover and the edge of the engine bay (although quite straightforward to take the cover off as just unclips). Its small and all black so does not stand out. He checked and my oil level was a little high (thank you main dealer) so took some out via the dipstick tube and warning has now gone off.

So will be checking the idrive reading and the dipstick after the next dealer visit. Once my service plan expires in 6 months I will be taking mine to this independent. Berkshire Motor Works nr Wokingham.

Guy said rule of thumb is that all bmw diesels have a dipstick. That contradicts the guy above with a 28d but maybe he had misinformation from a main dealer or just could not find it. As always its a clear as mud.

P1fanatic, you are absolutely correct. Following your instructions I went out to my 28d and found the dipstick right where you said it was. It doesn't look like a dipstick initially, but it is. I guess my salesman and the SA need to learn a little more about their products. I just "ASSUMED" they knew what they were talking about because my 535xi has no dipstick.

The day I went to test drive a brand new E91 325d M Sport in 2007 finally laid that assumption to rest when the salesman said that it was fitted with a 2.5 litre engine.
