2015 X3 seat cover cracking on side. Warranty?

I have a 2015 X3 that I just bought like two months ago with 40k miles. I noticed today that the leatherette material they use on the side of the seat is cracking! Has anyone had this issue and did warranty cover it? This shouldn't happen and looks like a defect, not really wear and tear.

It almost looks like you took a picture of my car. The cracking on my car looks identical to yours. Unfortunately my car has 85,000 miles and is way out of warranty. I agree this shouldn't be happening though.

Did you have to fight the dealer to have them replaced?

They had tried to pass it as normal, showed them another X4 in service which was worse so they lodged the claim and replaced. This is a known issue.

My wife's '13 X3 35i's black Nevada leather w/ vinyl sides on the driver and passenger non-sport seats are being replaced today since I showed the cracking sides to the Service Manager. The cracks show on the vinyl sides when the seats are compressed. It was explained to me that this is a "goodwill" warranty replacement gesture by BMW. The factory BMW warranty has expired and the mileage is around 78K. It took some convincing but Hendrick BMW made it happen. Very satisfied...

Angry

I think this is a leatherette issue only. I see no hint of it in my 2014 X3's Nevada leather with 30k miles. It's pretty disappointing. I can see how it might deteriorate if not addressed right away.

This is on my X3 35i with black Nevada leather. All of the seats have vinyl sides regardless of color.

This sucks. I will keep an eye out for any hints of it.
