Dimming Instrument Cluster

Greetings;

2019 X3 M40i... Love it.

Question: has anyone discovered a way to complete dim the instrument cluster at night, using the standard dimmer wheel? Perhaps through a dealer update or aftermarket coding?

I'd like to be able to drive country roads at night with the dash lights off and just the HUD showing speed on the windscreen.

I used to have a car that could dim the instrument cluster completely. It's nice to drive at night with no interior lights. Much less visually distracting.

Thanks in advance!

Never seen an option to turn off the instrument cluster. You can turn off the tablet screen. For the cluster, I know you can dim the brightness and there is a setting available to show a simple/reduced instrument cluster in the options in main menu.

Probably not something that DOT would allow....VERY dim but not 100% off. Just cover with a cloth if you insist on totally off.

My dad's old Saab had this feature. You could turn off the instrument panel completely at night - and only the speedometer would be lit. He used that feature all the time.

I had this on my 2001 Saab 9-3 convertible. Realy nice at night on the highway and together with the great BMW HUD in the X3 this would be a nice feature.
