Tire Pressure Sensor failures

2012 Loaded X3 w/M-sport 35i.

Tire pressure monitoring system sensor failures started poping up on the screen about every 5 minutes while driving.

This is the active design (rather then the passive ABS variant).

Part is in Germany -- apparently there is a new part # for this, so there may have been issues? I will post the numbers.

The dealer put 16 miles on the car -- WTF? Is that normal for something like this with 200+ failures logged in OBDII?

Thanks, -mark

Nope, didn't touch anything. Entire car is 100% stock.

The error is that the TPM sensor is unable to communicate. It's a problem with the wireless sensors, not the tire pressure itself.

Note that the 2012 X3 is a wireless system. I'm also told that the sensors are different on the M-wheels that I have, so the failure may be isolated to folks with 2012 M-sports.

The dealer told me that they had to reproduce the failure and as such had to drive 16 miles. Why is that necessary? I have OBDII that logs the events -- seems very suspicious to me.

I have a 2011 X3.5 M-Sport, may build, and am having the same problem. Got the much appreciated software update, but it didn't solve the TPM issue.
