Plastic panel creaks

My black plastic panels inside the vehicle and arm rest creak really bad when pressed. It is usually even worse during hot weather. See video below for details.

2013 BMW X3 creaks

How is yours panels? Are they creaking same way? Should I contact service if they could do something for this?

Just bring it to the service center and they will tighten up the screws and try to alleviate the creaking. They will most likely get rid of 80 percent of the creaks but if you want 100 percent you will have to get the LCI.

I will have oil change coming in few weeks. I will ask if they could do anything to decrease the creaking.

Ok, thanks for sharing the info. It is good to know that I am not the only one having this kind of issue.

Creaking and popping plastics on the X3 are one of the few things that let it down.
I will be interested to know how you got on.

Cheers

I just checked my car while driving 2 hours ago. My car doesn't make any of the noise that you showed in your video. Good luck with the fix.

Hopefully they can put it back together better then before. I'm always worried when they put it back together there will be some screws or something else missing/damaged.

Well, if it worse than before, then they will do it again as many times as required to make it better.

I have never heard creaks like that from any BMW. Definitely not from my X3.

Mine is as quiet as a church mouse.

My pre LCI makes a few but nowhere near as bad as in that video - mostly from the panel in between aircon and stereo. It makes the same creak when you push there with your finger as not too sturdy compared to other areas.

Dealer changed AC and radio buttons today and it improved issue about 50%. I believe that they did not change the plastic panels around the buttons. I think that plastic panel is the main reason of the creaking. I might need to take it back to the dealer some other day.

Mine creak the same way in the same locations shown in the video + plus another location in the rear that I have been unable to identify. I believe this situation is more accentuated in hot weather; I am hailing from Miami so go figure ...

As a matter of fact this is the ONLY issue that I have had with my vehicle in my 9 months of ownership. I consider this a very minor thing that hopefully can be taken care of in my first oil visit
