High all, we currently have a 335i M-sport with premium, tech, HK sound, heated seats, moon roof, anti-theft, and upgraded Bluetooth. We're very happy with the level of performance and luxury of the 335i and are looking at adding a x3 35i to the arsenal. What would you guys say are the "Must-Have" options? Does DHP really add that much? Other options you feel are necessary? Car will be daily driven: priorities in descending order are sportiness, comfort, luxury. Thank you for your help!

If I get a new X3, one of the top options will be adaptive suspension, because a lot of roads in Britain are of very poor standard. My sport suspension is fantastic on smooth roads, but too bumpy on the rough uneven roads. Professional Nav mainly for the larger screen would be on the list and also adaptive LED head lights.
The rest is just minor cost items. |

MSport seats are a must have option for you. They are great.
I am also spoiled by the HUD and the rear/side view cameras. Great for parking in tight spots.

DHP is a great add...especially if you are coming from a 335.

Given your priorities, I'd say DHP would be at/near the top. Comfort mode works great 80% of the time, with 20% justifying Sport, although Sport is pretty high-strung (holds gears pretty aggressively), so it's not something I'd drive in too much of the time. I believe you can tailor it to stiffen the suspension but leave the transmission alone, but I haven't tried that.
I really like the tech package - works nicely together between the Nav, the HUD, and the fancy instrument panel. MSport is really nice, and I love the steering wheel and seats, but I'd put it behind the other two for your priorities. Hopefully this helps! |

Just purchased my first BMW and I think the tech package is a necessity. The navigation system works well, real time traffic is a very nice feature and the heads-up display is sweet. Not only is the heads up fun to use but I think that it really does improve safety by helping to keep your eyes on the road. The premium pkg is also worth the money.

Because some packages will have things you don't want but some things you do make sure you check for items on the order sheet under "Options" that can be ordered separately. Sometimes you can forgo a package but get the item you want by individual order. For each model package, 2.8i, 3.5i, etc. the chart will show what is standard on the car, the packages available, and then the individual options. This can save some money and get you exactly what you want. 2015 3.5i owner.

If you like listening to music premium sound is a must. It's not that expensive comparatively and if you play with the onboard eq a bit it sounds really good IMO. Standard is pretty crappy. Tech package is also a must.

Not exactly a "must" have, our X3 has the M sport package and I do not like the black non M sport rocker side rails/moldings. Even on a black X3 you can tell the difference. I much prefer the body color moldings all around. I will not own a BMW that has different color body parts, to me it looks cheap. This is the one thing Audi is doing right as all the Q5s have body color moldings. IMO its just BMWs way to nickel & dime you into getting the more exp appearance packages.

Although, if you are on older guy with impaired hearing the standard (US) sound system is just fine
