Let's Talk About AdBlue
BMW recommends having them add the fluid during scheduled maintenance. Being in Germany with a US Spec BMW the service agreement is not part of the deal, so I have to pay from day one. I just found out that BMW is charging 6 times the amount for the fluid of what it costs at an auto parts stores.
BMW is reluctant to confirm that I can do it myself and always say in an "emergency" I can add it, but it needs to be done with the scheduled maintenance when possible. Anyone have any experience with adding it yourself? |

Take a look at:
http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/ser...ce/adblue.html BMW website - and says you can do it yourself.. There is also a link to the BMW Blue Performance brochure, which also says you can fill yourself. Cheers.. |

So I had BMW add the DEF at 66 Euro for a half gallon. 3000km later I get the DEF low warning. BMW is telling me that they only added .5 gallons but without a reason why they did not fill it up. I had them do it because I was lazy and figured it can't be that much more. Well it turns out a half gallon of DEF fluid is 11 Euro versus BMW's price of 66.
