Unpredictable behavior
Does anyone else have difficulties driving in side wind (cross winds)? Or is it just my car?
I think my X4 is quite dangerous driving over 60 mph (96 km/h) in high winds. Last week I tested driving at 90 mph (145 km/h)and the X4 was all over the road. Scary Have not experienced that with a X5 I also drove at high speed and high wind. Same thing happened when I drove on a highway with severe ruts (wheel tracks) and no cross winds. People must have thought I was drunk. Could not keep the car in a straight line. I haven´t got DHP and are driving wit non run flats.

Have tested 2,3 / 2,6 / 3,1 pressure with almost the same result. 3,1 is somewhat better. X4guy and Jypsie - you´re both driving with 18" and seems to have no problem. How wide are you driving? I´m driving with 245 up front and 285 on the rear. So perhaps the X4 doesn´t like to wide tires. The X5 i recently drove had 315-tires in the rear and was "solid as a rock" Have just scanned the internet and there are some notes about the X3 having x-wind problems. I also read in one test that the X4 has inherited the wind-sensitivity from the X3. To short wheelbase? (My thought)

I had problems with sidewindsensitivity before lowering. I drove 400km (250miles)yesterday, partly in windy conditions. I was surprised about improvement with lowering. It is difficult to say how much improvement - but there IS obviously an improvement.
80 % of the irregularities (bad road) was no problem - but 20% was unpleasant. I don`t regret lowering. I have not checked/had wheelalignment after lowering. 20" 310:s,RFT, EDC in Sport. I - and my X4 - likes the wide tires |

Just took my X4 (2015 35i, M-sport) on my first road trip which included about 100 miles on the interstate. I didn't experience any issues with crosswinds or staying in my lane. Riding on the 19" m-sport wheels with the RFTs.
One issue I did experience however was how sneaky fast the thing is. I frequently found myself doing over 80 even though it didn't feel like I was going especially fast. |

Car was a bit "sensitive" when doing 210km/h though, but that was to be expected and then the side winds were pretty strong. |
