Thermostat repair

Has anyone had the po597 OBD code and had to have the thermostat replaced? Curious how big a job it is, and how much it cost?

I cleared the codes this morning, and the light hasn't come back on. My car is still running fine so I'm wondering if it even really needs to be fixed now, or if it was just some fluke.

I'd suggest opening the 'hidden menu' so you can watch temps a little more closely.

It doesn't cost anything to fix.

BMW extended the thermostat warranty on the N20 engine to 10 years/120k miles due to premature failure. Go get it fixed for free at your local BMW dealer since you have the code in memory.
