Under load/weight is the true test but you could still get a feel for your patching skills by just inflating after the patch and keeping an eye on it. You can get the tire plug kit at your local walmart for under $10. |

Ah, that make logical sense about the flexing of the tire. I hadn't really thought of that. With the patch kit, seems like that's a good first option. Monitor it, and if it holds, great. If not, plan B.
