Steering clunk

I've just discovered yesterday that my steering 'clunks' when turning the wheel to manoeuvre at slow speed. Both directions.

It /appears/ different from 'the clunk' that happens over bumps this one seems to be coming from the steering column.

Anyone had that before?

This could be another case of steering rack failure, several threads on this on this forum.

I'm pretty sure it is. My X3 is at dealers for the past 5 weeks waiting for the new steering rack coming from Germany.They just told me over the phone 2 days ago that they are not sure if the part will be here in Vancouver in another week. So frustrating.
