2017 BMW X3 diesel production halted

I tried ordering 2017 model BWM X3 diesel in Canada few weeks ago. Last week I have received the message from the local dealer that he is unable to fill the order since the diesel production in US plant is halted. I was told that he does not know the reason. All models already built and shipped I was offered to choose from but no new orders can be made. Interested development as I am unable to find any information on BMW.ca or BWM USA web sites. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed a case?

UPDATE - I have received a phone call back from BMW Canada informing that an official announcement will be done in upcoming time. They did not specify exactly when so we have to wait for this and find out.

Halted X3D orders

Hello All

Perhaps with the VW issue, I know I have seen it in print/online from BWW that diesel sales were hit for all manufacturers. Perhaps they just have enough 2017's in inventory for the rate of sales, and decided to make other models. They will probably start changing over to 2018's/GO1 gas or diesel.

BTW: I love my 2016 X3D. Its the best car I have had, and I have had some good ones in my History.

That may apply for those who buy off the lot. But a decent percentage of BMWs are special ordered.

Hello
Yes special orders are routinely done, just so one can get exactly the right equipment and not pay for things that one does not use, the diesels seem to come either base or loaded. Anyway, the bean counters are making these decisions, and in their mind, you had your chance to special order before July, and besides, if they cut off 2017 and you really want a car, that increases the demand for 2018's/GO1's which in the corporate mind are improved and have a little higher margin, so that's good for the bottom line. I am not arguing with you, just telling how the bean counter mind works. They care not that such a move might push you to another brand. And in fact, right now, BMW has all the leverage, because if you are a diesel guy, where you going to go? No Audi, No Porsche--Mazda, Jeep Diesel??

I await the announcement to see if its going to affect my 2016 X3D.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but thought I'd tag on here vs starting a new one.

We're looking for a X3d as well, and it's still no-go. I checked the BMW "build your own" site and the diesel is no longer shown. The dealer is unable to get any info. Makes me think that it's done. Has anyone else heard differently?

Unfortunately our 328d lease expires soon (great car by the way) so it looks like we'll get another sedan.

Bummer.

GLWS on your 2016. We're looking for a white or gray one to lease.
