Multiple keys

Hi all, whilst waiting for a date on my new X3 I have read the electronic owners manual to get a better understanding of the car.

I am impressed that the vehicle knows which key (or FOB ) is present to select which settings to use.

What happens if both are present and have different settings? How do you, or the car, determine which is the primary key?

Ok think I just answered my own question. The key that unlocks the car is the one used for all settings. Excellent.

And once you're in you can change the active profile. So, if the passenger happens to unlock the door, you can change to the driver's profile instead of getting out, locking the door and unlocking it again with the driver's key. Sounds goofy, but it's been handy for me.

Yep, and it's kind of neat in my 2006 330i that when my wife uses her key to unlock the seat and side mirrors automatically go back to the setting they were in when her FOB last locked the car. When I got to get in next my FOB unlocking reverts the positions back to my settings.

Only manual part is the rearview mirror.

I often need to switch profiles too. Incidentally, you can also switch profiles by just unlocking with the key you want to switch profile to. You don't need to lock first. Or get out. I used to do this too

Nahoa - how do you do this? Is it changed on the iDrive?

Settings -- Profile then select the one you want (if memory serves, currently away from the car). Have to have saved the profile earlier. Save/name in the same menu.
