Off Road and Johnny Cash
Got up this morning and decided to skip the yard work and take a "rpiopio" inspired drive out to the Anza Borrego Desert state park. They have an area called the 'badlands", which I wanted to see. Looked it up on Google and sent the map to the X3. The route from my house is country roads through citrus growing areas, into mountain areas of oaks, shrubs, and grasses, then a sharp decent down the backside of the mountains through weathered igneous rocks to the desert floor. A beautiful drive of a little over an hour. Slipped the music thumb drive in, rolled back the panoramic roof and off I went with Johnny Cash Love playing. The car handled superbly and I must say, one the best drives out to the desert. The only negative is the slight "lag" in negotiating curvy uphill roads. A quick change into the trany sports mode took care of it. The nav system worked really well in the desert. It just took me where Google and I thought we should be, not where I wanted to be. Decided at that point to go ahead and break in the X3 on some soft off road. It did really well on a rutted road of mainly very soft sand with boulders. Could feel it slip a couple times and immediately caught traction. For immediate throttle response I used the trany sports mode the whole time. Ended up finding an historical Native American campsite.

Maybe the "lag" was due to Area 51..................
Great pix, thanks.
