Many a times I dont remember if I had locked my car, BMW Remote App is a great help to me in such times. I can lock it from far distances (may be from other side of the globe too, Locking has no limit of 1 mile).

Had my X3 for almost a year now. I didn't realize there was a hole for the fuel cap. Just tried it. Will work nicely. Thank you.

Can you use BMW remote app without having BMW app in the car?

I forgot to release parking brake and found out that it was automatically released as I started to drive. I wish I had this feature many years ago. It is also in the manual, but I didn't know that until now.

The little green and red lights on the speedometer when using cruise control.

It doesn't allow you to drive if the doors are not closed properly. My driver side door was left open and it stopped after warning.

Not necessarily "nifty" but pleasant surprises...

- Premium sound system (not a single one at the dealer had it to try out)
- Navigation system (I forgot how nice it was to have it integrated in the vehicle vs. using it on a tiny smartphone screen)
- Run flat tires (after reading threads here I was expecting a Fred Flintstone type ride)

It was surprising that you are not allowed to add optional items like BMW Apps and adapter after you take delivery of X3. This shows system is not so modular. Worst thing is that documentation on this is so poor and confusing.

When the passenger seat reclines, my wife falls asleep and doesn't nag me.

Funny... I experience the opposite when women sit on the passenger seat... They get all steamy and excited :-))

Yes. I originally downloaded it from the UK iTunes store before it was available in the US iTunes store.

Yes! This was a very tiny, but nice touch that really enhanced my perception of the BMW experience. They could have just plugged little LEDs into every little hash mark instead but going with the smoothly spinning mechanical indicator was a much more elegant touch.

I don't think this was mentioned yet so I'll add another. Being able to preview what is currently stored on a preset button by touching it was a nice surprise (but perhaps not to previous BMW owners).

By fluke I noticed that yesterday too... I couldn't remember if I had opened them but I'm glad you confirmed my car is thinking for me.
