Primacy 3 ZP to Potenza Sport to PS5s?
Hey brainstrust!
Just switched out my Primacy 3 ZP (RFTs) to Bridgestone Potenza Sports (non RFTs) and the ride feels a bit floaty from side to side. Also a bit noisier as well even at moderate speeds. Tyre place has a 30 day satisfaction guarantee so thinking of changing them to the Michelin Pilot Sport 5s but not sure if this will fix the floaty issue. Hate to have to go back to RFTs but at least they're a known quantity. Have the staggered OEM wheels: 245/45/19 275/40/19 So choices are somewhat limited here in Australia for this combo. |

Too much rubber!
My F25 X3 X Line has the same staggered wheel set-up as yours, factory spec. when new. Originally on Primacy 3 now P Zero (both runflats) the car has always 'shuffled' very slightly at the rear. When fully loaded, 5 up with luggage, the car runs arrow-straight.
Answer is pretty simple - too much rubber on the road. The tyres will react slightly to camber variations - wheel tracks particularly. 275 section tyres just aren't necessary on an X3. I might get a pair of wheels and go to 245's at the rear to match the front. And reduce the punishing tyre replacement cost a little! |
