Reliability
Sticking heater switch - new unit fitted, blown bulb - both in first couple of weeks of ownership - since then 6000 miles, no further problems - best new BMW I have had and I have had a few - 14 to be precise - very smooth and powerful, a joy to drive - highly recommended.

I think the robots were angry the day they built mine. I've had quite a few gremlins but I still love the car - perfect size, excellent handling, quick too.

Fault #1. Returned and will require more workshop time! Fault #3. Tyres still not delivered! One fact which cannot be overlooked is that my X3 has already spent more time off the road in the past 2 months of ownership, than 11 Honda cars did over the past 30 years! |

Issues
Unfortunetly I am not as lucky. I have 4 Bimmers in my driveway so I am a big fan. I owned a 2006 X3 that was less than expected but took a chance on a 2011 X3, last build before year change. In 2 months it has been to the dealer 5 times. It has a new central computer, new instrument cluster and 3 software updates. The main issues are the cluster Navigation and automatic light controls. The light come on when at any time, not just when needed. The Navigations aroows appear and disapper even when the Nav is not in use.
The ride is beautiful and I average 26 MPG. The interior is huge and has plenty of room. The only other issues is the lack of accessories for the unit, bug sheilds, running boards and push bars are not available. |
