Im sorry...although I tend to like the improved exterior design of the X1 (except for the rear)....since the exterior appearance of the new X1 looks closer to the X3 (versus a mini station wagon), the X1 doesn't come anywhere close to being comparable to the X3. Go sit in and test drive the two vehicles. The two SUVs are totally different (since the X1 is derived from the Mini). I hope that BMW's X3 redesign (G01) moves in the right direction, to keep improving the brand, and becoming more competitive to the Macan.
