X3 excellent handling

For all of you considering the X3, here is a story in its favor.
I was on the interstate driving at 80-85 mph outside of Chicago. In front of me a. A car was carrying a mattress and a box spring. The rig failed and the mattress and box spring and a metal bracket flew off into the road. I was able to swerve to a avoid all three as well as the car in front of me which braked. There was very minimal fish tailing and I was able to maintain speed. The steering was very responsive and the handling was excellent at all times.
I am confident I would have flipped a different SUV at these speeds.

This is my first BMW, and I had been impressed with how it drove prior to this, but this incident took it to another level. I am truly amazed with how this car handled in a very difficult and dangerous situation. It is unlike any car I have ever driven.

This may have been an SUV, but it drives like a car. Take that into account when making your purchasing decision.

Heart is still racing...

First of all let's touch wood you are safe. I'm sure you will calm down slowly to normal beats.

We are happy that we picked up our new car as X3.

Pics or it didn't happen j/k

Seriously though, thanks for sharing that. I do agree that this vehicle is very sure footed and the stability control helps handle extreme situations without much drama.

I have handled both the x3 and x5 in auto-x and accident avoidance exercises (in controlled events organized by BMW) and they are both very competent vehicles.
