M Sport with Dynamic Damper Control 28i?
Hey guys,
I'm in the process of ordering a 2014 X3 28i and I'm a little confused about the Dynamic Damper Control in the M Sport Package. I've done some searching and it apears I'm not the only one. So, the question is .... If I order the $3000 M Sport Package, is it my choice to remove the "225 Standard Suspension" and add "223 Dynamic Damper Control"? I want to add this feature but don't want to spend the $1400 (or $1300 when ZMP is ordered) as I'm already at $52K+ and really don't have the budget for the extra $1400 Let me know what you guys think?

The only way to get Dynamic Damper Control, even when ordering M Sport, is to order the Dynamic Handling Package. The DDC does not come free with M Sport, despite the somewhat confusing Pricing Guide. Sorry.

The screen shot of the pricing guide seems pretty clear to me and it show's it's +$0 (or No Charge), I just wonder if perhaps it's poor CA's not ordering the M Sport Package properly? Selecting the proper build options?

Do you see what I drive? I just went through this...
You can try all you want, in fact you should, but I am positive the only way the $0 option can be selected with ZMP is to also order DHP. I tried it, as have others, with no luck. Good luck, though. I hope it works for you. |

Oh, and the DHP is really worth the cost. Seriously. I think you will regret it if you do not get it. It truly makes the X3 a perfect vehicle for all purposes. You will be shocked you are driving a 4000+ lb vehicle. Sport mode makes my X3 handle 99% as well as the 2011 335i M Sport I just came out of. It makes me not regret getting another 3 Series. I love it.

Boy, the pricing guide seems really misleading then. To me, the Dynamic Damper Control is the most valuable item listed under "ZMP M Sport package" in the pricing guide. If it's not included, the value of the package is much lower.

You do get a measly $100 dollar credit when ordering ZMP - $1300 for DHP instead of $1400. That isn't much, but it is something I guess.

Out of every package I ordered on my car the dynamic dampers was the option that had real value.
In my opinion every other package is a rip off in comparison ... Although I did purchase some. Dynamic dampers are the real deal and worth every penny (even though we don't have pennies any more)

To keep on this topic, is it fair to say that if you see the DDC buttons beside the shifter as per the image below, the vechicle is equipped with DDC?
Reason I ask is that that image is of a 2013 X3 with M-Sport Pkg and after checking it's VIN on the BMW VIN decoder (http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/) there's no mention of DDC, however the buttons are there. Are those buttons indeed the DDC controls or standard on all X3s to activate something else?

The button you are referencing is standard, it lets you select between eco pro, comfort, sport and sport + that button will be there without DHP

Having recently taken possession of a new 28i M sport with DHP, I can say I would not purchase the vehicle without it, regardless of the extra cost. The switch you are referencing has the same function regardless of DHP or not (at least in the US). The mode switch will place steering, transmission, and throttle response into sport mode (more responsive) on all the X3s, but does not affect the handling. DHP adds the suspension into the mix with the same switch, and will affect the handling - in a very good way. The DHP makes the X3 feel like a BMW. Like others have said, it is not possible to get DDC without DHP. A bit confusing (ok, very confusing), but a search will confirm this to be the case for all who have tried.

Dynamic Comfort Package north of the border.
But you have to pay if you want to play. The only overlapping feature between the M-Sport Package and Dynamic Comfort Package is the "performance control" (poor man's torque vectoring using the rear brakes).
