How are the sunroofs holding up in the new x3?

Anybody have any water issues like the previous generation? Has anyone taken theirs through a car wash or let it sit out in heavy rain? Just curious to see if there are any issues with the new generation.

No problems thus far. Have the 35i now for several months with no leak issues.

Good to hear. I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time and wouldn't be a happy camper with water in it.

I think it's much too early to tell, but sounds positive so far.

Why bother with the sunroof - In due time they will all start leaking.

Because it looks better, the interior feels much more premium and you can't beat the feeling of sunlight in the cabin.

Right! I had one in every vehicle I've ever owned and to this point, none have ever leaked. For me, it is a must have.

X3 is way too new to have any meaningful data on this. But if you're looking for a level of comfort, this is the same panorama roof that BMW has been putting in vehicles for at least 6 years now, if not more.

We had an E91 with it (2006) that made some noise, but a replaced seal took care of that.

I agree. Some bugs early on with a redesign to resolve some leaking issues.

Mine has been problem free in the worst Florida downpours and we frequently get inches of rain per hour.

No leaks for me (in any sunrrof in any car for that matter)

Never, ever close the cover as the extra sunlight the roof lets in is fantastic

I’ve been driving an X3 since they came out in 2004 (2004 and 2010 X3).
The only time I use my sunroof is to let light in to warm the car in the winter, and could have easily done without one. I wanted the other items in the Premium Package and tech package so my 2011 will have one. If I could have gotten the other stuff and deleted the sun roof I would have.

That being said, the sun roof has given me NO problems these past 7 years. I’m not worried about problems with it on the F25.

I love sunroofs. I use mine mostly in the tilted (vent) position. It aspirates the air out of the cabin and creates a negative pressure that draws fresh air in through the vents. Great for those spring and fall drives!
