The PIN should have come from April1 as part of the Token solution. Contact him and ask for it.

I made my first successful (sorta) foray into the world of coding last night. I resolved the issue with the password (user error) and was able to find and modify values. My sincere thanks to Coder and April One for their patience and efforts.

Although I was able to modify the required parameters, I did not get the results I was looking for.

My main target was to enable the display of tire pressure and temperature. According to the “cheat sheets”, two modules need modification; 1) HU_CIC and 2) NU_NBT. I found HU_CIC and successfully modified the associated RCD_SAFETY. I was not able to find NU_NBT so obviously the associated RCD_SAFETY did not get modified. The display now shows the units for pressure and temperature for each tire but only a couple of dashes are displayed in place of the numeric values. I am assuming modifying HU_CIC formatted the display to include the units and NU-NBT would have made the data be displayed.

Why do I not have NU_NBT?

My X3 is a 2011 28i with the 02VB Tire Pressure Monitor. The stems are not rubber so I am certain I have the system that does transmit actual pressures and temperatures. I also reset the display, let the car sit overnight, all to no avail.

I would certainly appreciate more insight to resolve this problem.

It is HU_CIC OR HU_NBT, not both. Every car comes only with one Head Unit. CIC is for earlier Fxx builds, and NBT is in newer Fxx builds.

For RCD_SAFETY to work, the car must be equipped with Option 2VB, Tyre pressure control (TPC). After coding, the car has to be driven a few hundred feet before PSI and Temp values will populate.

Thanks for that clarification.

That does explain why I have only HU_CIC. I also checked the purchase documents and it does indeed have Option 02VB.

Drove it almost 8 miles to work this morning but still does not populate with data although the units are displayed for each tire now. Will try going back into it tonight and seeing what I can see.

CIC Firmware may be too old.

Any way to check that? Are there provisions for updating the firmware?

What is I-Step Current?

http://www.f30post.com/forums/showpo...postcount=1403

It is updated via Dealer Programming, else you have to flash the Head Unit with E-Sys, and you run the risk of Bricking it.

I-Step (current): F025-13-07-506
I-Step (last & shipment): F025-11-03-512

Not sure but last October when I complained about some drivability issues the local BMW dealer updated a number of the software modules. I suspect that is when the current I-Step version was installed as it appears to have a July, 2013 date if I interpret it correctly. I also bought the car in July, 2013 as a CPO so I do not know if it is connected to that. The car was manufactured in Sept 2011.

You can rule out the firmware. F025-13-07-506 is ISTA/P 2.50.4, so there should be no issue with it working with this firmware.

What do you mean by "add / wire in the Handwriting Module" ?
Any special manipulation or only to code NBT ?

Thanks for clarification

There is the iDrive Controller itself, and there is a separate Handwriting Module that enables the character recognition on top of the Controller. The controller is a simple swap out with the old one, but the Handwriting Module is an addition, and it must be spliced in.

Yes, 2 & 3 are needed.

With a 0913 build, your NBT firmware should be fine to FDL Code.

My build is F010-13-07-506
New level is F10-14-03-503 (ISTA/P 52.4.000)
Those 4 coding are present in HU_NBT

ZBE_TOUCH = aktiv
ZBE_TOUCH_BROWSER = aktiv
ZBE_TOUCH_INTERACTIVE_MAP = aktiv
ZBE_TOUCH_SPELLER= aktiv

1) You think my car is compatible with Touch Controler ?
2) Could you PM me a link to PSdZData v52.4 if available.
(For time being I can code with 52.3)

Hi Guys,
I have pick up my new X3 yesterday but still not received the OBD II cable for coding...
After chatting (unofficial) with dealer's electrician I've find out that a software update for my car will bring Enhanced BT onboard?! Is this possible? I have also updated my satnav software (2014-01) without any issues, by the same guy through a memory stick (27GB data) sent by DHL to my place...
Awaiting for your thoughts...

Yes, your NBT firmware supports Touch Controller.

F10-14-03-503 is both 52.3 and 52.4, meaning F10 received no update in 52.4, meaning 52.3 is still current. Only i3 / i8 received update in 52.4.

What Head Unit and Bluetooth option does your car have?

Map update via USB is normal. Just need the Map program and FSC Code.

NBT has Combox built into it.

You do not need a software update for EBT. You can code it now.
